Photo Diary | Villa Padierna

To celebrate my dad's 50th birthday, we travelled to wonderful Villa Padierna, only 30 minutes away from here. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, as upon driving through the gate we entered a glamorous villa with a Tuscany spirit and an essence of the glitz and glamour of the Ritz in Paris, transported completely from Costa del Sol to a serene Italian setting, and enralled in lavish architecture to uncover a hotel like no other... with a grand fountain at the entrance, magnificent flights of steps, an elegant interior with marble floors and walls, endless flower bouquets in intricate jardinières and beautiful loggias with views to the courtyards and expansive pools. 

We departed from the everyday ways of fast paced living and embarked in a short journey towards a piece of body and mind, with leisurely strolls along the gardens in the mornings, followed by a lovely brunch under the sun and a few hours reading Fitzgerald in a secluded spot in its extensive gardens. Before dinner, I would spend a few hours in the spa: pampering myself in the cinnamon and vanilla scented bath, the hammam, and a salt water scrub; and later in the evening have a lovely truffle, lavender and parmesan risotto in La Veranda, followed by an exquisitely made soufflé.

You can imagine how relaxed I was, having turned my phone and laptop off and not having a care in the world with family around me, and a lovely Italian milieu.

 I fell in love with this place, and decided this is how my Tuscanian villa is going to look like - wouldn't it be lovely to have guests every Sunday in one of the loggias, overlooking the sun-kissed lands of the incredible Italian countryside? A girl can dream...
