I'm left in absolute awe by these stunning photographs by Karl Lagerfeld of model Kati Nescher channelling socialite, fashion icon & former Harper's Bazaar contributing editor Gloria Guinness, in elegant gowns from classics like Dior and Givenchy tinted in saturated hues, white kitten heels {like these} with a bow, and a classic braided chignon {a tutorial here}. It makes me reminisce on the times where everyone seemed so glamorous, attending masked balls dressed by Yves and Christian, sipping rosé champagne until getting graciously drunk, chattering with socialite friends about the most recent azalea silk couture gown made exclusively for you, and posing for Slim Aarons' photographs which would inspire generations.
"Elegance is in the brain just as well as in the body and in the soul" - Gloria Guinness.
